The Song Lab is a fun, creative small group music class where students learn basics of music production and composition and is best suited for children age 8 and up. No previous experience required. Children will explore songwriting, lyrics, melody, rhythm, singing, basic chords, creative expression, and the process of turning ideas into original songs.
This class is great for kids who love music, enjoy creating, or want to build confidence using their voice and ideas in a supportive, low-pressure environment. No equipment required, however, if your child has an iphone, macbook, or ipad they may bring it to work on composing, recording and creating loops etc.

When: Thursdays, September 3 – May 27th
Time: 2:30–3:30 PM
Location: Home studio in Fishhawk West
Ages: 6 and up
Group Size: Maximum of 8 students
What’s Included
Students will explore:
Songwriting basics & Music Production
Lyrics, melody, and rhythm
Singing and vocal expression
Basic piano, guitar, and ukulele chords for songwriting
Creative music games and activities
Confidence-building in a supportive small group
End of year showcase where students can share a song or creative music project with family and friends.
*All Munchkin Music classes and private lessons follow the Hillsborough County Public School schedule for days off and holiday breaks. Monthly payments continue through May and the final classes/lessons will be the final week of May. After May students will have the option to join summer classes and summer private lessons.
